The Coldwater Committee is focused the conservation of our cold water fish species. Recently, brook trout have been the species of concern and interest. In many areas on the east coast and midwest, brook trout have been negatively affected by loss of habitat and introduction on non-native fish. A variety of conservation efforts have worked to successfully bring back native brook trout to their native waters.
Two areas that have been the focus of the Coldwater Committee are the Coaster brook trout of Lake Superior and unique brook trout of remote spring ponds of Wisconsin.
