Diane Blair

I am a member of the Dallas Fly Fishers, Texas Women Fly Fishers, and the Ft. Worth Fly Fishers and was fortunate to learn to tie flies with the Roadkill Roundtable in Dallas. This great group of guys and gals took me under their wings and shared their collective expertise, techniques, materials, and whatever I needed to become the tyer I am today. I learned my deer hair techniques from the late Michael Verduin in Dallas and Mike George of Olathe, Kansas, and continue to work to perfect and teach them to other tyers.

I am also a certified casting instructor with the IFFF and have to split my free time between teaching casting and teaching tying. I love them both, but mostly just love teaching.

Over the years I have been blessed to receive recognition from my peers and was voted IFFF Southern Council Woman of the Year in 2002, IFFF Gulf Coast Council Fly Tyers of the Year (along with my wonderful husband, Richard) in 2009, and IFFF Southern Council Fly Tyer of the Year in 2012.

My passion for teaching has led me to become the Retreat Leader for North Texas Casting for Recovery Retreat, and a fly tying and casting instructor at such events as Texas Becoming an Outdoors Woman, Fly Fish Texas, and Boy Scouts of America Fly Fishing Merit Badge classes. I have tied for over ten years at the IFFF Southern Council Fly Fishing Fair and at countless other fly fishing events. I developed a deer hair class (for serious tyers), which I taught on two occasions in the Dallas area.
