Gene Barrington

Gene Berrington

I am a life member of the FFF, a past president of the Atlanta Fly Fishing Club, a past president of the Southeastern Council of the FFF and a current board member, a past member of the FFF National BOD, a past member of the Georgia Council of TU. I'm a current board member of Project Healing Waters - Georgia. I enjoy all aspects of fly fishing and have rods from 2 wt to 15 wt. I have been a demonstration tyer at national and regional events as well as teaching fly tying. My wife says that when I die, she intends to sell off my fly fishing gear a little at a time and live off the proceeds. She probably could.

My current fly tying project is the development of a fly tying program for Project Healing Waters geared to wounded service members. Many of them have traumatic brain injury, other nerve related problems and physical injuries associated with combat. Fly Tying is a great way to help redevelop fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination and the ability to follow a sequence. Others in our group are teaching rod building and casting.
