Scott Erickson

Scott Erickson I live in Raymond, Alberta, Canada and work for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Branch as a technician, studying environmentally sustainable control of field crop diseases.
I began fly fishing and fly tying at the age of eleven, under the direction of my outdoor education teacher and Boy Scout leaders. My home waters include the lakes and streams of southern Alberta, including the Crowsnest River and others. I fish primarily for trout in the lakes and streams of southern Alberta, but I also enjoy chasing a wide range of other fish in fresh- and saltwater, fishing wherever and whenever I can. I first learned of the Federation of Fly Fishers in 2005 when I attended the Boise Expo while visiting family in the area. Since that time, I have attended a number of Expos and Conclaves, and have been a demonstration tier at the Boise Expo (4 times) and the National Conclave (twice). I have been a member of the FFF since 2005 and am a life member of the FFF Fly Tying Group.
I have special interests in fly tying history, fly tying for Canadian stillwaters, and in learning different styles of fly tying from around the world such as Japan, UK, and Europe. I am interested in seeing the FFF increase its presence in Canada, and in fostering international exchange among fly tyers. I feel that I have benefitted greatly from my association with the FFF and its members, and am eager to contribute whatever I can in return.
